Presidency has debunked the news that President Muhammadu is yet to arrive in Japan, 24 hours after his departure, as claimed by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The President left for Japan on Sunday to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holding in the City of Yokohama, August 28-30, 2019.
The group stated the pictures making the round of Buhari in Japan were doctored.
IPOB stated this in a statement titled: “The Grand Deception has Begun: Jubril-Buhari Still Missing in Japan over 24 Hours after Departure from Nigeria” which was signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful.
Meanwhile, the rebuttal was contained in State house release signed by the Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, on Monday.
“The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group has had nothing to do with President Muhammadu Buhari since he arrived Yokohama, Japan, on Monday,”
Nigerians at home & in the Diaspora are urged to disregard concocted stories, backed with spurious visuals, of any protest or harassment of the President & his team,” the statement read in part.
” It is the stock-in-trade of hate mongers, who do not realize that the rest of Nigerians have left them far behind,” He added
Mr. Adesina restated that the President will make his presence at the 7th Tokyo Int’l Conference on African Development (TICAD7) count for Nigeria, “and no scare-mongering or sabre-rattling will detract from the outing.”
