The District Head of Bebeji Local Government Area of the Kano State, Haruna Sanusi, on Monday resigned his appointment.

His decision was in opposition to the installation of heads of new emirates by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and loyalty to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.

AllTimes reliably gathered that the traditional leader cited “health grounds and recent changes in the emirate system, especially the installation of new Emirates’ heads by the Governor of Kano State” as reasons for his resignation.

Kano state now has five Emirates, instead of the usual single Emirate — Kano Emirate. The Emirates are: Kano, Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi. All Emirs would have equal powers and are to be on same first class status as Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano.
