In the last few months, two prominent veteran Yoruba actors; Babatunde Omidina, popularly addressed as Baba Suwe and Ojo Arowosoge with the stage name; Fadeyi Oloro, have been amid a battle for survival.
ATN gathered that Mr. Omidina has been diagnosed of diabetes and has been flown to the United States for medical care with the help of fans and public figures in the country.
60-year-old comic actor was accompanied by his son, Sola, last weekend and is expected to complete his medical treatment at a hospital in Rhode Island. This came barely two months after the actor publicly sought financial support during an interview with an Ibadan-based broadcaster, Kola Olotu.
The actor has since received medical attention after the involvement of his colleagues, several Nigerians that included the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo and Minister for Health, Isaac Adewole.
Meanwhile, Fadeyi Oloro is currently battling an undisclosed ailment, which has grounded him in a general hospital for some weeks. The state of his health had allegedly deteriorated earlier in the year after which he was admitted to the hospital.
The bedridden state was made public by Ibrahim Chatta, a younger colleague in the movie industry, as he appealed to fans to support the ailing actor financially.
Mr. Chatta posted a 25-second video clip, showing the actor on his sick bed, on social media.
However, in 2012 it was reported that Fadeyi Oloro was hit by a moving vehicle during a political rally held in Osun state.
Fadeyi Oloro’s fame in the industry cannot be disconnected from his role in Yoruba television plays like Jimoh Aliu’s TV production, ‘Yanpon Yanrin,’ which featured Jimoh Aliu, Orisabunmi.
